All-Day Discipleship Training Course
Resound: verb, meaning to "fill a place with sound; be loud enough to cause an echo"
Catechesis: from Greek "katēkhein" meaning "to resound" and "ēkhē" meaning "sound" (also see "echo")
Based on the two definitions above, it is our goal to empty ourselves so to have room for receiving the love of God and giving it away in service to others, just like an empty cave has a better chance of echoing the tiniest sounds--so too can we in our stewardship learn to echo the whispers of God in the hearts of those we encounter along the way. Only then can we together head toward the light that leads to a new and colorful world.
What is Discipleship?
Discipleship caters to each individual’s needs and works to guide him or her toward a deeper awareness of and relationship with the Person of Jesus Christ. This can look like two friends having lunch talking about their faith, or it can be mentoring a group of 4-5 other people. If attending a course or going on a mission trip leads to becoming a missionary, then Discipleship is happening. This moves from powerful conversion toward inspiring personal commitment for young people and adults!
How do we do it?
In order to create new disciples, we must model our efforts after the 7 Days of Creation which God grants us continually through the 7-fold gifts of the Holy Spirit. In order for new disciples to envision what God has revealed in terms of developing leaders and tracking their own growth, we must model our efforts after the Beatitudes, the Beatific Vision, and the Two-Tier Seven-Fold Works of Mercy. Through this universal Catholic process, the Fruits of the Holy Spirit supernaturally emerge in the lives of Jesus' Disciples, and through this, our faith becomes vibrant & technicolor, a true double rainbow of God's glory.
